A WORD FROM OUR FOUNDER
The Spirit of the Gael Lives On
We are a proud family of Irish rebels, bound by heritage, resilience, and an unyielding spirit that stretches across the provinces of Ireland. Our ancestors were rugged land tenants, working the soil, shoeing ponies, tending sheep, stacking stone walls, and serving pints in the local pub. By night, they gathered for the seisiún, playing the pipes and carrying forward the songs of our people.
Like so many others, our family was forced from Ireland during An Gorta Mór—the Great Hunger (1845-1852). As refugees, we sought life, hope, and liberty on the shores of America, but never forgot where we came from. We fought in the streets and the boxing rings, worked the factories and the barrooms, swept the floors and manned the telephone lines—doing whatever it took to survive and build a future, all while supporting Ireland’s struggle for freedom.
Our great-grandfather, Henry, arrived in Boston as a teenager, determined to raise a force for Irish independence. He joined the 28th Massachusetts Infantry of the Irish Brigade, fighting in the Union’s defense. When the war ended and he recovered from his wounds, he enlisted again—this time in the U.S. Army. But through it all, his heart remained in Ireland, and he never hesitated to send support home.
